84 day's to go...

Phew, sure is hot here for October. But with just 84 days to go until Christmas arrives I need to be thinking about Christmas shopping and crafting, not BBQ's and ice creams!

As this is only L's second Christmas we are still trying to work out what Christmas should be like for the Freckle family. Both M and myself have traditions from our own families, but would also like to make our mark as a family by creating our own traditions.

One tradition that has been going since we became we got marries is making some of our Christmas presents. This was mainly because we didn't (and still don't) have a huge pot of money to spend thousands on presents. Homemade presents are generally cheaper and they mean more because of the effort you have gone to creating the gift. This tradition will continue!

Past homemade gifts included a personalised Christmas stocking filled with sweeties, knitted scarves, homemade biscuits in a decorated jar, homemade chocolate truffles. I would also make my own greeting cards too. This year will see the appearance of door hangers, hair clips, scented sock animals, salt dough and fabric tree decorations and goodness knows what other ideas will suddenly come to me at 3am! So eyes peeled for a series of my homemade Christmas coming to this blog soon!
